About us
The Mt. Morris Food Pantry opened its doors to the public in December 2007, and each month we serve more than 100 families who are experiencing a food crisis. With the spiraling economy, that number is growing every day. Coordination of the project is made possible by the CCLC Help*Works Program and AmeriCorps* VISTA. Previously located in The United Church of Mt. Morris Education Building, today we can thank Bob Gardner, a local business owner, for graciously donating us space at 20 Chapel St. The pantry gets food from The Greater Rochester Foodlink, Barilla, church drop boxes, and individual donations. In the past year the Food Pantry has provided food to 461 unduplicated families.

Using Our Services
Mt. Morris Healthy Food Pantry
Only Mt. Morris residents may visit the Pantry. For the first visit, shoppers must bring proof of residency (i.e. lease or letter) and income (i.e. pay stub or benefits card). Pantry shoppers may then receive a food basket once every month. No client may take a food basket for anyone other than him or herself.
Children’s Clothing Cupboard
The Clothing Cupboard is available to Livingston County residents who have children living in their household. Cupboard shoppers may take one bag of clothes per visit, and may visit up to twelve times a year. No client may take clothing for anyone other than their own children.
Volunteering
Whatever your volunteer style, there are many ways to help. While some roles require specific abilities, such as physical capability, others simply require understanding and compassion. Some roles entail interaction, and others are behind-the-scenes.
Examples of Volunteer Roles:
Intake Volunteer: Gathers information from clients for both the Clothing Cupboard and
the Pantry, ensures that the intake room is orderly.
Floater: Walks between the Clothing Cupboard and the Pantry in order to address any
problems that might arise, answers client and volunteer questions, assists
shoppers that cannot shop by themselves.
Freezer Volunteer: Assists clients with frozen/refrigerated foods.
Stocker: Ensures that Pantry shelves are well-stocked, sorts through Clothing Cupboard
donations.
Foodlink Helper: Helps unload food items from the Foodlink truck (every other
Monday)
