Incorporated in 1995, Catholic Charities of Livingston County is a multi-service, non-profit agency working to alleviate poverty through 10 active programs. We serve the needs of homeless and very low income families and individuals, the working poor and the most vulnerable in society by providing direct assistance, advocating for social and economic justice and encouraging self-sufficiency through education and support.
The agency provides:
- emergency food, clothing, furniture;
- emergency medical and prescription assistance;
- one-time utility and rent payment assistance;
- emergency housing;
- transportation to medical appointments and home visits for the frail elderly and disabled;
- trained adult mentors for troubled youth;
- intense counseling, case management, life skills training and referral services for at-risk pregnant and parenting adult women and teens;
- outreach to the Hispanic/Latino community including migrant workers and their families;
- transportation assistance for the working poor;
- budget counseling and financial literacy training; and
- job readiness training for women who are transitioning off public assistance.
