Position Title: Grant Researcher
Program/Department: Program Development
Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment: Assist Program Development Manager (PDM) with research on grant opportunities for all programs at CCLC. Also, assist with statistical research (i.e. demographics, census, county and state stats on poverty).
Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks:
- Learn funding needs of each CCLC program from Program Development Manager (PDM)
- With PDM, create a schedule of reporting deadlines
- Find grant opportunities for CCLC programs and write brief synopses
- Do statistical research as directed by PDM and provide brief written report on same
Training and Support Plan:
- Meet with PDM initially to understand the programs and the scope of research needed (phone conversation will suffice)
- Weekly “check-ins” with PDM (phone conversations and e-mails will suffice)
- PDM will be available during all work hours for questions and suggestions about any assignment
Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:
- Ability to complete assignments within a reasonable timeframe
- Attention to detail
- Ability to be self-motivated
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of the internet and search engines
- Ability to occasionally use library resources
- Familiarity with grant writing a plus
Time Commitment: Time commitment will vary according to availability of volunteer and deadline for grants. Research is ongoing, so it is up to volunteer how many hours they can offer. Suggested: 3-4 hours a month minimum.
Location/Geographic Area of Assignment: Assignments will be completed away form CCLC office.
Outcome/Goals of Assignment: To assist in successful applications for outside funding that will support CCLC programs.
Reporting required: Schedule of reporting will be agreed upon by the Program Development Manager and volunteer.
