VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

For Catholic Charities of Livingston County

 

 

Position Title:  Volunteer to do minor home repairs

 

Program/Department Faith in Action

 

Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment:

Assist the frail, elderly or those with disabilities with minor home repairs--outdoors or indoors. 

 

Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks:

§         To be communicated by Faith in Action program director

§         Volunteer may need to provide their own equipment if the care receiver does not have the necessary tools.

§         Volunteers are not expected to do tasks which would ordinarily require a contractor.

 

Training and Support Plan:

Initial one hour orientation by Faith in Action Program Director and ongoing support via telephone or e-mail.

 

Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:

§      Physically able to do outdoor chores

§      Caring and kind

§      Dependable and responsible

§      Enjoy helping the elderly

§      Background check

 

 

Time Commitment:

§      Flexible—help once a year or several times per year, depending on your availability and needs of elderly in your town.

 

Location/Geographic Area of Assignment:

§      Close to home!  Volunteer are matched in their home town or surrounding town. (Livingston County) It’s about neighbors helping neighbors.

 

 

Reporting required:

§      Report to Faith in Action director upon completion of work
