VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

For Catholic Charities of Livingston County

 

 

Position Title:  Light Housekeeper

 

Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment:

Assist the frail, elderly or those with disabilities with light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, taking out garbage.  Tasks to be performed are determined by volunteer and care receiver in advance.

 

 

Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks:

To be established at Faith in Action Volunteer Orientation

 

Training and Support Plan:

Initial one hour orientation by Faith in Action Program Director and ongoing support via telephone or e-mail.

 

 

Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:

§      Physically able to do light housekeeping chores

§      Good listener

§      Caring and kind

§      Dependable and responsible

§      Enjoy being around the elderly

§      Background check

 

 

Time Commitment:

§      Flexible—to be determined by availability of volunteer and need of care receiver.  Usually weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly; 1-2 hours for each visit

 

 

Location/Geographic Area of Assignment:

§      Close to home!  Volunteer are matched in their home town. (in Livingston County) It’s about neighbors helping neighbors.

 

 

Reporting required:

§      Monthly report of activities to Faith in Action director
