VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

 For Catholic Charities of Livingston County

 

 

Position Title: Volunteer Driver

 

Program/Department Faith in Action

 

Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment:

Offer transportation for seniors or those with disabilities to meet their routine doctor appointments, cancer treatment, or dialysis appointments.

 

 

Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks:

To be established at Faith in Action Volunteer Orientation

 

Training and Support Plan:

Initial one hour training by Faith in Action Program Director and ongoing support.

 

 

Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:

§      Licensed and insured vehicle

§      Good driving record

§      Good listener, caring and kind

§      Dependable and responsible

§      Enjoy spending time with the elderly

§      Background check

 

 

Time Commitment:

§      Flexible—to be determined by volunteer.  You can choose to drive just once a month or once a week, depending on your schedule and availability.

 

 

Location/Geographic Area of Assignment:

§      Volunteers are matched to transport those in their home towns or surrounding towns to medical appointments, locally or to Rochester.  Volunteer determines in advance the locations they are willing to travel to.

 

Reporting required:

§      Monthly report of activities to FIA coordinator
