VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION
For Catholic Charities of Livingston County
Position: Volunteer Visitor
Program/Department: Faith in Action
Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment:
Bring compassionate care through friendly visits and/or telephone calls to homebound elderly or be a listening ear and support person for someone going through cancer treatment.
Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks:
To be established at Faith in Action Volunteer Orientation
Training and Support Plan:
Initial one hour training by Faith in Action Program Director and ongoing support via telephone or e-mail.
Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:
§ Good listener
§ Caring and kind
§ Dependable and responsible
§ Enjoy being around the elderly
§ Background check
Time Commitment:
§ Flexible—to be determined by volunteer and care receiver.
Visits are usually weekly or bi-weekly; 1-2 hours for each visit
Location/Geographic Area of Assignment:
§ Close to home! Volunteer are matched in their home town. (Livingston County) It’s about neighbors helping neighbors.
Reporting required:
§ Monthly report of activities to FIA coordinator
