VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

For Catholic Charities of Livingston County

 

Position Title:   eBay Volunteer

 

Program/Department  Connections

 

Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment: To assist in developing and supporting the eBay portion of the Connections Program; assist in developing and training important job readiness skills for client base. To help expand a major funding segment of the Connections Program.

 

Outline of Volunteer’s Responsibilities/List of Tasks: Any or all of the following:  Oversee and lead participants in all aspects of online sales.  Help with donation intake and assessment. Help work with Program Director & participants to develop descriptions and photograph eBay items. Conduct basic eBay business including photo taking, listing, tracking sales and questions, packing and shipping. Not all tasks need to be done by all volunteers. Specialized volunteers are welcomed.(i.e. if you are only interested in assessment, photo taking, shipping – etc.)

 

Training and Support Plan: Individual orientation is given for new volunteers. A manual will be given to all volunteers.  Director is present to help oversee participants and offer any guidance needed.

 

Skills/Qualifications Needed for Assignment:  Depending on volunteer tasks:

  • Basic knowledge of computers and/or online sales is a plus. 
  • Volunteers are needed who are knowledgeable in appraisal of donated items. Computer knowledge is not a prerequisite for this aspect of online sales.    
  • Writing skills helpful

 

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours once or twice per month. Flexible. Volunteers are needed for scheduled times during the week from 9am-3pm.  Commitment of time and frequency varies, although a set schedule is preferred.  (e.g.: every other Wednesday from 9am-12pm)

 

Location/Geographic Area of Assignment: 51 Main Street, Mount Morris, NY

 

Outcome/Goals of Assignment: Teach marketable skills in online sales and customer service to women transitioning off of public assistance.  To support & expand the retail component of Connections, and to increase knowledge of the entire program in the area.

 

Reporting required:  Time sheets, report on tasks accomplished
