Did you know we have over 165 dedicated volunteers who serve in various positions throughout our Livingston County agency? Our volunteers help in so many capacities and feel rewarded by incorporating service into their lives and helping out the community in which they live. Thank you to all who dedicate their time and energy.
Here are just a few of our volunteers:
Congratulations to our own Bill McCleary Faith in Action Volunteer who received the 2016 Retired and Senior Program Volunteer of the Year Award for Livingston County. Through his FIA work, Bill has helped so many of the elderly and frail in our community get to important doctor appointments as well as provide welcome comfort and care to them. to ensure they have what they need for food and care. This is such a well deserved honor for Bill.
Ellen H. is currently living in NYC and she still takes time to coordinate our Food Pantry volunteer schedule. Ellen’s devotion is amazing. She shares: “It really means a lot to me for so many reasons: that you took the time out of your very busy schedule to do this; that Catholic Charities is, in my mind, the star of Livingston County service organizations; and that I’m in the company of so many wonderful volunteers who really work hard for the organization.”
Amanda Langan is another amazing volunteer. Amanda is a SUNY Geneseo student majoring in Spanish and is a member of the sorority The Royal Lady Knights. She chose to volunteer her time with us getting donations of gifts and food for the Christmas Program. She went above and beyond, spending about 40 hours of her own time making our loads lighter and smoother. In Amanda’s words: “Catholic Charities has redefined what doing good means to me. It’s refreshing working with people who dedicate themselves to providing sustainable and individualized support for the individuals of Livingston County.”
