LEAF Volunteer

Program:  Help*Works Community Resource
Description: 

The Livingston Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF) is used to provide families in crisis the support they need to become stable and prevent situations like eviction and utility shut offs, and medical cost emergencies.  The program screens individuals and determines their eligibility to receive funds.  If the family receives assistance, suggestions to adjust their budget are made in order to prevent a future crisis.  

Last year LEAF assisted over 250 families with rent, utility, and medical costs.  To continue this support to the needy in Livingston County, your organization or group can hold a fundraiser to raise money for LEAF.  Any idea for a fundraiser is welcome, and Catholic Charities will support you every step of the way.  Read below for more information on conducting an event: 

Responsibilities: 
  • Come up with an event that will be successful in your community
  • Organize volunteers, donors, space, and other resources needed to hold the event   
  • Promote the event through your network, the media, and other outlets
  • Work with Catholic Charities to make the event a success
Training: 

No training is necessary.  A meeting with Help*Works Program Director Tammy Hall will be held to discuss ideas and plans for the fundraiser.

  • Dependable
Location/Time: 

The event will be held on a date decided by your organization and held at your choice of venue in your community.  Events should be held in Livingston County, as LEAF only assists residents here in Livingston.
