Justice and Peace Ministry
The Justice and Peace office serves the needs of our clients by engaging Catholics and community members in learning about the needs in our communities and the structures in our world that perpetuate poverty and injustice, and by addressing these conditions through direct service and advocacy for social change.
JustFAITH JustFaith changes people. Those people change the world.
JustFaith ministries strive to provide faith formation processes and resources that emphasize the Gospel message of peace and justice, Catholic social teaching, and the intersection of spirituality and action.
- There are several options for parish-based small group learning opportunities. The original JustFaith program is a 30-week formation program. A detailed curriculum is provided, and the group meets weekly to discuss what they have read, watch DVDs, host guest speakers, and visit service sites. In addition to this, there are several other shorter programs that focus on one issue (ex. Care for Creation, Immigration, Prison Reform) or on a specific audience (high school, college).

Parish Social Ministry
Parish Social Ministry serves as a link between Catholic Charities and the Catholic parishes of Livingston County. The work of Catholic Charities provides an opportunity for parishioners to put their faith into action by supporting CCLC with their time, treasure, and talent, and to learn more about the social conditions which leave our clients in need.

As followers of Christ, we strive to imitate his example of compassion, healing, and giving voice to the voiceless. The Catholic social tradition encourages Catholics to meet the immediate needs of the poor and vulnerable, and also seek an end to social and political structures which create inequity in our society.

These efforts are sometimes called the "two feet" of social justice- both are necessary to take us further on the path toward a world of justice, peace, and dignity.

For example, we provide food to the hungry and advocate for more funding for federal food programs. We provide clothing to migrant farm workers, and seek an end to immigration policies which force them into the shadows of our society. We provide counseling to young mothers, and urge lawmakers to enact laws which make it easier for women in crisis pregnancies to choose life for their unborn children.
